Our History
In 2017, Socca Australia’s former Managing Director, Jarrod Galbraith-Marten, founded Mosaic Sports Club with the mission of creating a supportive environment for migrants and new arrivals to Australia. Through its commitment to this vision, the club has grown successfully, now fielding over 30 teams competing in both football and futsal across New South Wales. Staying true to its core values, Mosaic Sports Club continues to leverage the power of sport to foster social inclusion, helping refugees and asylum seekers rebuild their lives, forge lasting connections, integrate into Australian society, and develop a strong sense of belonging in their new home.
Building on this foundation, in 2024 Socca Australia was established. This was in response to the rapid growth of the sport, from grassroots to elite competition. Socca Australia offers the pinnacle of small-sided football in the country. With a focus on expanding the sport nationwide, Socca Australia is working to establish leagues that are accessible to communities across the nation. The organisation also aims to provides pathways for players to represent Australia on the international stage, offering them opportunities to compete in global competitions and fulfill their dreams of wearing the Green and Gold.

In November 2024, Socca Australia made its official debut at the Socca World Cup, marking a significant milestone in the nation's involvement with this fast-growing format of small-sided football. The tournament was held in Muscat, Oman, from November 29 to December 7, 2024, bringing together teams from around the globe to compete at the highest level of 6-a-side soccer.
Representing Australia on this international stage, the national team—known as the Sixaroos—was placed in Group F, where they faced strong competition from Latvia, Peru, Mexico, and Albania. This inaugural participation was not only a competitive challenge but also a symbolic moment, showcasing Australia’s commitment to expanding its presence in the world of socca.
The establishment of Socca Australia represents a broader movement to promote and develop 6-a-side football nationwide. As the official body responsible for the sport's growth, Socca Australia is focused on creating structured pathways for players of all levels to engage with the game. Its mission includes organising local and national competitions, identifying and nurturing talent, and assembling elite squads to represent the country at international events like the Socca World Cup.
This entry into global competition reflects a growing enthusiasm for alternative formats of football in Australia—particularly those that emphasise speed, skill, and accessibility. With its debut now complete, Socca Australia is poised to build momentum and inspire a new generation of players and fans alike.
